چکیده

The long standing problem of a non-perturbative renormalization of a gauge field theoretical Hamiltonian is addressed and explicitly carried out within an (effective) light-cone Hamiltonian approach to QCD. The procedure is in line with the conventional ideas: The Hamiltonian is first regulated by suitable cut-off functions, and subsequently renormalized by suitable counter terms to make it cut-off independent. Emphasized is the considerable freedom in the cut-off function which eventually can modify the Coulomb potential of two charges at sufficiently small distances. The approach provides new physical insight into the nature of gauge theory and the potential energy of QCD and QED at short distance. PACS. 11.10.Ef – 12.38.Aw – 12.38.Lg – 12.39.-x

Non-perturbative Renormalization Group Approach to Dynamical Chiral Symmetry Breaking in Gauge Theories

We analyze the dynamical chiral symmetry breaking in gauge theories solely by the non-perturbative renormalization group, without recourse to the SchwingerDyson method. First, we briefly review the basic notions and formulation, and clarify its great feature that it gives a systematic approximation scheme without any divergent series nor serious gauge dependence, compared to other perturbative ...

Recent Developments in Non-perturbative Quantum Field Theory

In the last couple of years we have been witnessing a series of impressive results in the framework of two different but related types of quantum theories: supersymmetric Yang–Mills theories in four dimensions and superstrings. They have in common space-time supersymmetry. They also share the property that a formal perturbative expansion can be defined for these theories, and “renormalization” ...

Non-Renormalization Theorems in Non-Renormalizable Theories

A perturbative non-renormalization theorem is presented that applies to general supersymmetric theories, including nonrenormalizable theories in which the ∫ dθ integrand is an arbitrary gauge-invariant function F (Φ,W ) of the chiral superfields Φ and gauge field-strength superfields W , and the ∫ dθ-integrand is restricted only by gauge invariance. In the Wilsonian Lagrangian, F (Φ,W ) is unre...

Implications of Analyticity to Mass Gap, Color Confinement and Infrared Fixed Point in Yang–Mills theory

Analyticity of gluon and Faddeev–Popov ghost propagators and their form factors on the complex momentum-squared plane is exploited to continue analytically the ultraviolet asymptotic form calculable by perturbation theory into the infrared non-perturbative solution. We require the non-perturbative multiplicative renormalizability to write down the renormalization group equation. These requireme...

Renormalization and topological susceptibility on the lattice: SU(2) Yang-Mills theory.

The renormalization functions involved in the determination of the topological susceptibility in the SU(2) lattice gauge theory are extracted by direct measurements, without relying on perturbation theory. The determination exploits the phenomenon of critical slowing down to allow the separation of perturbative and non-perturbative effects. The results are in good agreement with perturbative co...
